FANNY, Sunday, March 30 - 4:15pm

English Canada Premiere

Daniel Auteuil, a great actor and filmmaker, continues to pay his moving tribute to Marcel Pagnol with the remake of the second part of his Trilogie marseillaise.
Fanny starts where Marius left off. Here we come back to the Bar de la Marine now in a state of turmoil with Mr. Panisse’s marriage proposal, Fanny’s swoons, her mother’s hysterical reaction, the upcoming wedding plans and of course all the emotions running high.
With charm and humanity Daniel Auteuil brings the magic back to a classic love story punctuated by timeless taboos.
“The result, we laugh, we cry thanks to an honest, generous filmmaker who does not take his audience for fools” (Pierre Vavasseur).
The second part like the first shows a superb team of larger than life actors, attractive Mediterranean settings, witty and funny dialogues… in short a feeling we are in film paradise!
“It’s best to sit back and luxuriate in the film’s unhurried pleasures (…), Alexandre Desplat’s mournful score and a clutch of likeable performances, especially when an exuberant Auteuil is sparring with scene-stealing veteran Jean-Pierre Darroussin” (Simon Kinnear).
Fanny is gold in a bar that shines much like the Provençal sun!
