When Anne’s mother Lena passes away in the 80s, Anne falls upon a strange photo revealing a mysterious uncle her father Michel never talks about. Anne explores the past of her family starting in 1947. As Lena and Michel are rebuilding their lives, Jean, Michel’s long lost brother, appears and disrupts their happiness. Lena is torn between Michel who saved her from the camps and her charming brother in law wanted by the police. The intensity of this heartfelt drama comes from its elegant sound track, its vibrant historical fresco, its free flow from one era to the other and its superb acting. “Inspired by her family history, Diane Kurys achieves a touching film where History is blended with her personal story. Stunning as the loving husband and brother, Benoît Magimel makes up with Melanie Thierry and Nicolas Duvauchelle, a love triangle that is as luminous as it is tortured” (Viviane PESCHEUX). When Michel gives Lena “Caron for Women”, the perfume becomes a gift of passion in a captivating, “deeply moving and beautifully crafted” film. (Fabien Menguy)
